WHAT IS SPOT CRYOTHERAPY?
Spot or local cryotherapy is a targeted cold therapy treatment that focuses on specific areas of the body rather than the whole body. Using a precision cold applicator, our trained staff delivers controlled cold temperatures directly to the area of concern. Benefits that come from using local cryotherapy can be compounded with the use of whole body cryotherapy prior to local treatment. One of the common reasons people come to get cryotherapy treatments done is for a faster recovery time between workouts or other high intensity training. The other reasons usually fall underneath or alongside reducing pain in areas and improving joint functionality where the treatment is done. Research has shown cryotherapy may improve the following: athletic recovery, rehabilitation, chronic pain, recovery from injury, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, MS, sleep disorders, depressive and anxiety disorders.
HOW DOES SPOT CRYOTHERAPY WORK?
During a spot cryotherapy session, a handheld device delivers a controlled stream of cold air or nitrogen vapor to the targeted area of the body. The cold temperature causes the blood vessels in the area to constrict, reducing inflammation and numbing pain receptors. After the treatment, as the area warms back up, blood flow increases to the treated area, bringing oxygen and nutrients that support healing and recovery. This process helps to reduce swelling, accelerate tissue repair, and provide lasting pain relief. Our trained staff will assess your specific needs and guide the treatment to ensure maximum effectiveness and comfort throughout your session. Sessions typically last 5-8 minutes per targeted area.
